Who doesn't love an appetizer that is easy to prepare?! These delicious red wine meatballs are sure to be a crowd favorite. We recommend pairing them with your favorite red wine such as the Braganini Reserve merlot. The fat in the meat will complement the tannin in the red wine.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground lamb or pork
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
  • 2 teaspoons salt and 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Sautée the onions and garlic with the olive oil over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  2. Add red wine and reduce by half. Set aside to cool.
  3. Combine the meats by hand in a bowl.
  4. In separate bowl, combine onions with other ingredients.
  5. Add everything together and combine by hand until mixed.
  6. Form into 1 ½ in. meatballs and roast in a 375-degree oven until cooked through (about 20-25 minutes).
  7. Serve with your favorite sauce.
