In 1921, Italian immigrant Mariano Meconi founded The Border City Winery in Ontario, Canada. After prohibition's repeal, Mariano moved to Detroit with the business and renamed it the Meconi Wine Company. In 1936 the name was changed again - this time to the Italian Wine Co. This name change coincided with a move to our current location in Paw Paw, MI, which sits in Michigan's premier grape-growing region; The Lake Michigan Shore Appellation. Finally in 1941, Mariano changed the name to St. Julian after the patron saint of his hometown and it has stood the test of time.

St. Julian has been owned and operated by the same family for four generations. Our dedication to supporting local farms and the production of quality wine and juice has been upheld for over 100 years. This long-term commitment to quality fruit has made us the most-awarded winery in Michigan.

Products

St. Julian’s portfolio of award-winning wines has over 100 products and include distilled spirits, ciders, and every type of wine from internationally recognized dry wines to award-winning sweet wines, classic dessert wines and wines using innovative wine-making techniques.

Not only is St. Julian Michigan's longest running winery, but we are also Michigan's first craft distillery producing some of the finest spirits, many of which are made from grapes. Our line of spirits includes vodka, rum, brandy, and more.
