St. Julian Celebrates International Riesling Day
March 13th is International Riesling Day! Learn more about this esteemed grape variety and St. Julian's Braganini Reserve Mountain Road Riesling, a continuous award-winner in wine competitions.
Riesling thrives in cool climates like that found at St. Julian’s Mountain Road Estate Vineyard in the heart of the Lake Michigan Shore AVA. Located 5 miles from the shores of Lake Michigan, this vineyard sits high on a hill with the perfect slope and air movement needed for the grapes to flourish. Warm days and cool nights work in tandem to build the sugars and acidity needed for quality Rieslings. The grapes here are hand picked, and only the best fruit is used for the estate wines.
Just last year, St. Julian’s 2020 Braganini Reserve Mountain Road Riesling won Best of Class and was crowned winner of the “Riesling Challenge” competition in the national East Meets West Wine Challenge. The Riesling also won Double Gold at the Tasters Guild Competition and at the Harvest Challenge, as well as receiving a Gold medal in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Pronounced flavors of apple, pear, peach, lime, and blossom are balanced by refreshing acidity that makes this wine such a crowd pleaser. A hint of residual sugar (1.5% RS) helps to keep the aromatics and flavors fresh and elegant.
Riesling pairs with many different foods, but its high acidity and natural fruitiness make it a great match for spicy cuisines, like Asian stir fry, chicken enchiladas, curries, and buffalo chicken wings. The acidity also cuts through heavier winter foods like white chicken chili, creamy white pasta dishes, and pot pies. This is the perfect wine to enjoy in any season!
