Spotlight On
2025 BR Founder's Series
Introducing the Founder’s Series! Many of you have had the pleasure of visiting St. Julian’s Mountain Road Estate Vineyard, located just miles from Lake Michigan in Coloma. This 40-acre vineyard, planted with Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese produces some of the most awarded and loved wines year after year. Estate bottled wines are defined by law. The wine must have been made and bottled at the producer’s winery and from grapes from the vineyard owned and controlled by the winery, like St. Julian’s Mountain Road Estate. These wines experience the highest level of control possible and deliver consistent style and quality. Simply put, they are exceptional in every way!
February Wine Club marks the introduction of our Founder’s Series line of wines starting with the 2025 vintage. Produced exclusively from our Mountain Road Estate Vineyard, the Founder’s Series (FS) will commemorate the early and current Braganini family members who have brought our great company to where it is today. The Mountain Road Estate Vineyard is the only vineyard that shares its ownership with St. Julian. Family members Sarah and John Braganini oversee the operations and management of the vineyard. Exclusive for Wine Club, we are proud to present the first two wines in this series, the Braganini Reserve Founder’s Series Sauvignon Blanc and the Braganini Reserve Founder’s Series Pinot Noir Rosé. “It’s an honor to carry on the family tradition of growing wine grapes at this premium location,” proudly states Sarah, “and an even greater honor to have wine bottled under this new label.”
Kaleidoscope
“I can’t wait to see what’s new this time!” We hear that all the time and we love it! Each quarter, members are treated to new styles, blends, and grape varieties, making Wine Club release so exciting. Introducing Kaleidoscope, a new sweet rosé blend (5.5% RS) made primarily with a new grape variety, Delaware.
Kaleidoscope showcases the ever changing and endless possibilities when blending unique layers and flavors together. Though grown in Michigan since the 19th century, Delaware is an American Hybrid grape new to the St. Julian lineup. Pinkish in color and prized for its delicate, aromatic profile, Delaware adds hints of orange blossom, candied grapefruit, and sweet melon flavors to the mix. The addition of Catawba brings a complex interplay to the blend, with bright strawberry, mango, and a sweet spice. With a clean, fruity, and refreshing finish, it’s perfect for sipping on its own. However, food loves this wine! The sweet fruity flavors cut through spicy heat from Asian and Mexican dishes, and spicy BBQ. Try it with salty and fatty foods like onion rings, pretzels, hard cheeses, and salted nuts. Complementary flavors from fruit-based desserts are a natural pairing. Fruit tarts, berries, cheesecake, and chocolate-covered strawberries round out a night of delicious food and wine!
Kaleidoscope promises an engaging experience with a vibrant and swirling array of fruity and floral aromas and flavors. We invite you to discover the fun and complex qualities of this new sweet rosé!
The Meaning Behind the Letters
One of the greatest perks of your membership is being introduced to new grape varieties, blends, vintages, and winemaking techniques; there is always something new to explore! When it comes to the “black label” wines, you may be wondering the meaning behind the different abbreviations. Excellent question and we have the answer for you!
Winemaker Nancie Oxley explains, “For these wines, grapes are selected in the vineyard, often hand harvested, and fermented in small batches. This is done to reflect the true character of each varietal grown in the Lake Michigan Shore appellation. White wines are fermented in small stainless steel jacketed tanks to control the fermentation temperatures best suited to capture the essence of the grape variety. Reds are fermented in half ton micro bins and punched down by hand 2-3 times throughout their fermentation. A true labor of love!”
