Wine grapes rank among the most complex and fascinating plants in agriculture. Their diverse DNA allows winemakers to craft an incredible range of wine styles and flavor profiles. Our innovation starts in the vineyard. That’s why our team continues to introduce and plant new grape varieties. One of the most exciting additions is a French-American hybrid called Aromella.
Cornell University developed Aromella as a winter-hardy grape with highly aromatic Muscat-style characteristics. Breeders created it by crossing Traminette with the French grape Ravat. As a result, Aromella produces a white wine that blends the spice of German Gewürztraminer with the honeyed sweetness of Italian Moscato. Recognizing the grape’s potential, longtime grower partner of ours, Ed Oxley, planted two acres of Aromella at his Lawton vineyard in 2020.
Now, we proudly introduce the first bottling of Braganini Reserve Aromella, available exclusively to Wine Club members. This initial release delivers intense aromatics and expressive flavor. Expect rich notes of lychee, peach, pineapple, citrus peel, and blossom. With 6.3 percent residual sugar, this sweet white wine offers both vibrancy and balance. One sip may even inspire you to name your next child (or pet) after it.
“We didn’t fully realize the incredible potential of this varietal at first,” says winemaker Nancie Oxley. “However, after tasting the first vintage, we knew Aromella had a bright future. Because of that, we are already looking to expand our plantings.”
Thanks to its medium acidity and tropical sweetness, Braganini Reserve Aromella pairs easily with many foods. It shines alongside dishes with a touch of spice, such as Pad Thai or Mexican fajitas. It also complements fresh fruit, charcuterie boards, Hawaiian pizza, and grilled white meats. Whether enjoyed on its own or at the table, Aromella offers a fresh expression of innovation rooted in the vineyard.
