Ciao Bolle Awarded Double Gold At 2022 THE Rosé Competition

(PAW PAW, Mich) — Michigan’s longest operating winery, St. Julian Winery, has added more esteemed awards to its portfolio following this year’s THE Rosé competition held in May at the Fort Lauderdale women’s Club in South Florida. St. Julian’s Ciao Bolle received a Double Gold while the 2021 Braganini Reserve Mountain Road Rosé and 2021 Braganini Reserve Winemaker Series Blaufränkisch Rosé both earned Silver medals. Following the judging, an exciting, wine, food and fun-filled fundraising event called “Fifty Shades of Pink” was hosted, attracting hundreds of professional businessmen/women.

  • Ciao Bolle (pronounced chow bo-lay) is Italian for “Hello Bubbles”. This dry sparkling rose (0.7% residual sugar), a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Marquette, is refreshing with hints of strawberry, lemonade and grapefruit.
  • 2021 Braganini Reserve Mountain Road Rose is a light-bodied dry rosé blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grown from our Mountain Road Estate Vineyard. Aromas of strawberry, red plum, and lemon with flavors of red raspberry, pepper, and strawberry.
  • 2021 Braganini Reserve Winemaker Series Blaufränkisch Rose is a medium-bodied dry rosé with crisp flavors and racy acidity. Aromas of raspberry and strawberry intermingle with tart flavors of cranberry and strawberry. A great rosé for both red and white wine lovers. Pairs well with duck, berries, or hard cheeses.

“It’s wonderful to see rosé wines get the attention they rightfully deserve, especially heading into the summer season,” says Nancie Oxley, St. Julian’s VP – Winemaking and Head Winemaker. “Ciao Bolle is a pretty special wine for us because it blends the beautiful and delicate color and flavor of a rosé with the added element of bubbles. It’s a real celebration in a glass and we’re honored for it to now be a Double Gold winner in our collection.”

Established in 2013, THE Rosé was the first and only wine competition in the United States to seek out the best and most compelling rosé wines on the planet. Over 180 wines were evaluated and judged by a 16-member judging panel of wine industry educators, journalists, and sommeliers.

The competition was founded by wine writer, photographer and wine judge Bob Ecker who realized that fine rosé wines deserved respect, recognition, and love – from consumers and the trade alike. In 2017 he partnered with Shari Gherman, President of the American Fine Wine Competition (which has been bringing recognition to the best wines produced in America for the past 16 years) and brought the competition to South Florida where it has flourished. Hundreds of US and international Rosé wines participate hoping to be named the best Rosé in the world.

St. Julian, Michigan’s largest and longest-operating winery, has been family-owned since its founding in 1921.
