St. Julian Winery Breaks Ground
on New
Dundee Tasting Room

(PAW PAW, Mich) – On Thursday, September 13, St. Julian Winery broke ground at 700 Freedom Court in Dundee for its new 3148-square foot tasting room. The project is being managed by Carmel Point Development, LLC, of Dundee.

According to Maricha Laurey, Dundee Store Manager, the new tasting room is expected to be open before the holidays to accommodate the rush of regional wine tours and retail sales. The complete line of St. Julian wines, including the Braganini Reserves, Sparkling Wines & Juices, Dessert Wines, Fruit Brandies and the new White Heron, will all be available for tasting and for purchase. Additional wine related items, such as glassware, apparel, home décor and select specialty food items will also be part of the retail store.

St. Julian’s current Dundee tasting room at 119 Waterstradt-Commerce Dr. will remain open until the official opening of the new location later this year. St. Julian tasting rooms can also be found in Frankenmuth, Parma, Union Pier and Paw Paw – where the winemaking facility has been located since 1936. Free winery tours are offered year-round in Paw Paw, Monday through Saturday, every half hour beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the last tour starting at 4:00 p.m. (there is no tour at Noon). Sunday tours run every half hour beginning at 12:30p.m., with the last tour at 4:00 p.m.

The family-owned St. Julian winery, founded by Mariano Meconi in 1921, is nestled in the picturesque fruit-growing region along the southern shore of Lake Michigan. Today, grandson David Braganini has adopted the family tradition of winemaking while turning St. Julian into Michigan’s most renowned winery.

As one of 11 wineries to make up the Lake Michigan Shore Appellation – a designated American Viticultural Area (AVA), St. Julian has been instrumental in the creation and advancement of the Southwest Michigan Wine Trail, the marketing vehicle for this group of wineries.
